Cancun, Mexico

I wanted to go backwards in time and record some of my favorite destinations — international and in the United States. The first I want to revisit is my trip this past summer to Cancun. It was a family girl’s trip with my mom, my aunt, two of my cousins, and my dear maternal grandparents (my grandpa did come, but he’s basically one of the girls). I had just broken up with my boyfriend of 2.5 years, and this vacation was exactly what I needed to truly discover who I am as an individual. Sipping margaritas and piña coladas always help, especially if it’s secured in a mini pink swan float!

  • Fun in the sun
  • Never-ending, all-inclusive food (Authentic Mexican Food)
  • All the alcoholic beverages you can drink
  • Salt water and related activities (Kayaking & Sailing)
  • Distance from my everyday life
  • Chichen Itza (One of the new seven wonders of the world)

I stayed at Dreams Sands Cancun Resort & Spa and it was very much worth the price my family and I paid. They had multiple restaurants that featured different cuisines, and two separate pools. It was pretty great overall but my issue with it was the location of the hotel. Its ocean water smelled badly like it was mosquito infested, so I didn’t really get in it after the first day I was there. I would probably recommend hotels further away from the bay area Dreams Sands is on if you plan on getting in the water often.

I planned on going to swim with dolphins at Isla Mujeres but my cousin cut her foot and we had to cancel. However, if you are planning a trip to Mexico, I would highly recommend this activity. I’ve heard great things about beautiful Isla Mujeres.
